Paper Abstract:      Motherhood is thought to be one of the biggest events in a woman’s life and breastfeeding is expected by many to be a natural and effortless task. However many women find themselves in difficulties when breastfeeding for diverse reasons. Breastfeeding support is offered by clinical professionals and nonclinical voluntary organisations, as a way to help women to overcome the difficulties they experience. This study set out to explore how voluntary non clinical breastfeeding supporters use the Internet to deliver support to breastfeeding mothers. Breastfeeding supporters believe that Internet and mobile applications have the potential to extend the support offered to breastfeeding mothers. With this in mind this study offers insight on how Internet applications can be used by breastfeeding voluntary organisations.
